The week after we returned from our roadtrip, we started in on our kitchen remodel. We did the demo and then our contractor, Kory took over from there. He is the guy who did our bathroom remodel. He has a helper Mitch. Kory does it all, electricity, plumbing, gas, sheetrock, flooring, install of the cabinets, you name it. He is a perfectionist and the quality shows. It took over 3 months, but the end result makes it all worth it now that I am on the other side of it all. I cooked in the trailer. We set up the computer room to make my morning lattes. Every room was a disaster storing the things from the kitchen and dining room.
We took it down to the studs and subfloor. Starting in the entry, the carpet went away all the way thru the halls and dining room, putting down light brown hardwood in its place. We boarded up the coat closet and opened it up on the other side and made a pantry. We pushed the patio door down and moved the kitchen window to above the washer and put in a new 5 ft window over the sink. New cabinets, appliances and granite countertop. I painted all the walls of the living room, halls and kitchen area from a dark gray to a light off white. Its all so bright and cheerful now. I have a big baking counter with all my baking ingredients right there. One of my favorite things is the spice drawer.
Below are some before and afters. I am so happy with how it turned out. It is better than I expected it.

The entry way had some pillars that were covered in heavy plaster. We took those out and put in a bookcase.

Finding vent covers was a problem. I wanted flat ones. I found unfinished ones and stained them to match. I am pretty proud how exact they are.

We also had to reroof the shop and had it painted to match the house. I was really tired of looking at that lavender paint with plum trim.

While I was at it painting the inside, I went for it and also painted the bedrooms and ceilings. I totally got rid of the dark gray. Its all bright and clean and mine now.
